ON THE BALL

Get Your Workout on the Roll

Working out with a stability ball is a great way to challenge your flexibility, balance and, of course, your stability. Anyone at any fitness level can incorporate one into a workout routine. Just by sitting erect on the ball, your spine is set in a neutral alignment. Use of the stability ball will improve the strength of your lower back and abdomen. And who doesn't want better abs?

Over some organic tea, I had a chat with my friend Becky Masseth Castells (a.k.a. Froggy) of Froggy's Fitness in LA. We began to discuss the benefits of working out with a stability ball. As it turns out, Becky is also a huge fan of the ball. She says, "Working out with a stability ball makes the workout more efficient because it requires the use of additional muscle groups. When using a stability ball the possibilities are endless in terms of types of exercise. Because you can target every body part on the ball." She adds, "Another benefit of using a stability ball at home is a reduced carbon footprint because there is no need to travel to the gym which also saves you money on gas." The benefits really appear to be limitless.

The stability ball is an excellent addition to any fitness program. It can be used as a chair or bench when doing seated presses or incline dumbbell presses or flies. This is one piece of fitness equipment that is a must. So lets all...get on the ball!

Anita has been training me for about a year and her stability ball workouts are the best! I feel so strong, lean, and fit after working out with her on the ball. You would be surprised how challenging the endless combinations on the ball are. Thanks Anita!

"...it's 65% diet and 35% exercise..."

I'll never forget those words. I've been working out for more than 10 years, including long-distance running for the last 3 and never before have I been able to achieve the results I have over the last couple of weeks with Anita's guidance. The stability ball has also been a great addition to my core workout routine thanks to her. She's a GREAT coach and really knows her stuff. Check back for upcoming fitness articles and you'll see just what I mean. Thanks Anita!

About 2 years ago, I decided to take a more serious approach to my personal health and fitness, I was introduced to Anita by one of her existing clients. At first i was not sure if i was going to feel comfortable, or for that matter even need a personal trainer, but i decided to give it a try. Anita's insight and knowledge towards not only how to get the most out of every workout, but how to eat right and impact the earth less in the process, made me take a whole different approach to my workout. You do not need to have an expensive gym membership, use big machines that burn electricity just to get in shape, and stay in shape. A moderately priced set of free weights, combined with a healthy diet and daily exercise is all you need to keep fit and lessen your carbon footprint at the same time. Anita Pressman is an amazing motivator and brings a world of knowledge with her. Thank you.
