LOSE THE CORD

Unplug Your Way to Green Fitness

If you want to burn some serious butter, I highly recommend Spinning. Spinning is a great eco-aerobic workout because it's done on an unplugged stationery bike. There's no electricity used which makes it a no fuel burn workout.

The greatest thing about Spinning, is that its done at your own level of fitness... just by adjusting the knob on the bike! No pressure here newbies.

I recently met with Nery Gomez, owner of The Ride in Sherman Oaks, CA. The serene studio was voted 2 years; "Best Spinning Studio" by Los Angeles magazine. Gomez says, "Spinning is a moving meditation. It teaches you to relax while working by focusing on your breathing." All of this while you're reaping the benefits of a stronger heart and burning some serious calories.

Just the other day I took my first class at The Ride where I'm greeted by Nery..who couldn't have been more accommodating. He sat beside me while we took Annie Moncada's class. As I'm sitting on my spin bike, I notice the room... I get a warm and relaxing feel from it... like an oasis. The room is filled with peaceful scenery - the lights dim and the music plays. I forget I'm in LA. Suddenly, I'm peddling through mountains and meadows and places I've never been before. My hearts pumping, sweat is dripping and I'm feeling great.

2 days later, and my legs continue to be sore - but I still feel great. What a workout! And as Nery says "We are all on a ride through life." Spinning is a fantastic way to get fit without leaving a big carbon footprint!
